Susan Kaplan earned her MBA in marketing and strategy from the Yale School of Management, with distinctions in marketing and negotiation. At Yale, she was active in the Women in Management Club and was an orientation advisor for first-year students. Susan worked as a policy analyst at the Department of Labor in Washington, DC, before business school and making her career switch. Upon graduation, Susan moved into marketing consulting, advising clients how to achieve growth in industries such as health care and financial services. Wanting to bring her strategic thinking in-house, Susan became director of corporate marketing for the National Hockey League (NHL), where she strengthened the NHL brand spearheading multi-million dollar marketing programs. Susan eventually became brand manager for GMAT and GRE programs at Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions. In this role, she spoke to thousands of MBA candidates about the admissions process and found her true passion: advising prospective students on their strategic direction and marketing plan for applying to business school. Susan also relies on her Career Coach Certification and bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Michigan to connect with her clients and identify their strengths and compelling stories.
